There's a lot more going on with colic than fussiness!

Can't hurt to try the chamomile tea, as it's soothing and calming, and a colicy baby is not very soothed and calmed. You should drink the chamomile yourself. You can have a cup or two to the baby's teaspoon!

Chamomile is an herbal tea, which contains no caffeine. Even if you are working with a colic medication, it is likely to contain chamomile extract.

Try also to press gently on the soles of the baby's feet, one at a time, as if you are trying to flex the feet, it can calm them down a bit.

Lavender oil, one drop only mixed with a bit of baby lotion or cream on the soles of the feet may help calm the baby too.

Try whatever comes a long, just be sure to check it with the Doctor; keep in mind that most allopathic Drs/ are not big on or knowledgeable about alternative methods. If you have a naturopath, they'll have more alternative methods under their belt.

Blessings, and good luck.

Please, before trying to diagnose on your own, make an appt. with your baby's dr. asap, to have your baby checked. When babies cry, especially after eating, there is a reason, if they are hurting, please find out why. Chammomile is one herb that can make even an adult rather drowsy. And, due to that fact, it is best to check with the dr. first anyway. One thing to keep inmind, they have found that herbs can have an effect (not good one) if a person is on a prescription med. So, due to that fact, please consult with the dr. first. The reason I say this-some people take herbal meds, and mix with prescription meds, and herbs should be taken as seriously as regular meds. Take care.

My ped told me mild chamomile tea in doses like you're discussing isn't likely harmful. She didn't think it worked, either-- but wouldn't hurt either! Good luck!

chamomile is mild, shouldn't hurt anything. No need to sweeten it, it's naturally sweet. a tablespoon is a very very small amount, even for a 3 month old. Peppermint tea also calms a gassy tummy.

"think he has colic" is slightly misleading- "colic" is a term used to sum up any millions of reasons for unexplained crying. most bouts of "colic" occur in the evening, during the time when husband comes home from work, dinner is being made and the house is in a bit of chaos. Dimming the lights, preparing a crock-pot dinner that requires less evening commotion, and keeping baby in arms during this time might also help.

stomach discomfort- from gas could also be to blame. pressing on the area of baby's belly just under his ribs will give you the info you need. if baby's belly is hard, chances are that he's suffering from gas pains. There are a few positions that usualy remedy this. One is to lay the baby over your forearm (belly down) and walk around the house. If walking around isn't an option, put your knees together, lay baby facedown with his face looking at the floor and GENTLY bounce your knees up and down. Another sit-down way to resolve baby's gas is to lie the baby on his back and, holding onto his feet, bicycle his legs. You can sing "the ants go marching one by one" or "the noble duke of york" or "run run run as fast as you can" This "game" is excellent for helping baby expel gas.

Another possibility is under-stimulation. The chaos of the house in the previous paragraph describes over-stimulation. There's simply too many things going on at once and baby sort of freaks out. Under-stimulation is the opposite. Baby is staring at the ceiling all day and simply can't take it anymore. Baby is literally screaming for attention, to put an end to the misery of boredom. Throughout the day, change baby's position, allow baby to lay on a blanket on the floor with toys, sometimes on his back, sometimes on his belly. Wear baby in a sling or front carrier for a while, sit baby up in stroller and walk around the block. Staring at the ceiling all day is boring, and doesn't help baby learn about his world.

Good luck and congratulations.

I have heard that Gripe water works really well like one person above said. I would talk to your doctor about giving your baby anything other than breast milk or formula at this age! (That includes the gripe water, cold medicine, anything!) I gave my daughter medicine to find out that she stayed sick longer because I gave it to her when she was 6 months old. If I would have asked my doctor he would have told me not to give it to her. I didn't face colic so I don't have any experience. If she or he is bottle fed you might try changing the type of bottle and talk to your doctor about changing formula too. Your doctor (or one in the practice) should be just a phone call away! If not I would look for another doctor!

The quality and music were awsome. You are going to have to come up with something to make the words easier to read though. I was not able to catch most of it. Perhaps change them to a different color. Ohter than that nice job.

My friend does this..says her Dr. says to do it..

She does it with a 4 oz bottle and regular tea bag and just gives it two or three dunks and keeps it light.

if you are unsure check with your Dr about it first.
